Why Olo?
 

Olo was born from a simple belief: every child deserves to feel seen, understood, and valued.

As a pedagogist and special education teacher, I have spent many years working alongside autistic children and supporting inclusive education. Those experiences have shown me that every child has their own way of seeing, learning, communicating, and connecting with the world. They have also taught me that inclusion begins with curiosity, understanding, and respect.

That is why I created Olo.

I chose a little penguin because I wanted a character every child could relate to, regardless of age, gender, culture, or background. Olo is curious, thoughtful, and attentive to the small details that others sometimes overlook. Through his adventures, children discover that what may seem unusual at first can become a unique strength, and that different ways of thinking and communicating enrich everyone.

Each story in Olo's World is inspired by real educational experience and explores an aspect of neurodiversity through simple, meaningful everyday situations. Rather than explaining autism through definitions, Olo invites children to experience empathy, recognise different perspectives, and discover that there is never only one way to understand the world.

My hope is that every child who meets Olo will grow up knowing that differences are not barriers to overcome, but strengths to appreciate—because a world where everyone can be themselves is a richer, kinder, and more beautiful place.
